• Bioinspired Thermal-Functional Materials and Devices: Stretchable thermal management materials and devices for wearable electronics; passive radiative cooling materials based on cellulose for thermal management in buildings and personal applications.

• Bioinspired Optical Materials: Sustainable optical materials based on the self-assembly of cellulose nanocrystals.

• Bioinspired Stretchable Devices: Stretchable devices utilizing gallium-based liquid metals.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Qingchen Shen is an Associate Professor at the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo. He received his doctoral degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2020. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge (2021-2024) and the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (2024-2025). His main research interests focus on bioinspired thermal and optical materials and devices, including stretchable thermal management materials and devices, passive radiative cooling materials based on cellulose, sustainable optical materials based on cellulose, and stretchable devices based on liquid metals. As the first/corresponding (including co-first/corresponding) author, he has published more than ten papers in prestigious international journals such as Science, Advanced Materials, and Advanced Science. The overall citations are over 2,000, and an H-index is 17. He has been granted 1 UK patent and 4 Chinese patents. His work has been featured by well-known domestic and international media, including XinhuaNet, People's Daily, China Science Daily, Chemistry World, Phys.org, the American Chemical Society (ACS), New Scientist, Fast Company, Euronews, and others.
